Get Ready for Spock's Homecoming

This Friday, April 23, Spock will finally make landfall in Vulcan. Leonard Nimoy is scheduled for a 'homecoming' of sorts this Friday and events are planned to welcome him to the community. Nimoy will begin with a private visit to the Trek Centre followed by a parade-style procession down mainstreet into downtown Vulcan where a stage will be set-up at 3rd Avenue where he will address the crowd and media. Fesitivities also include the unveiling of a bronze bust of his character, Spock, and a "live long and prosper" handprint that will later be put into bronze as well. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved into the Curling Rink. Hope to see everyone out at this event.
Other features of the event include:
12:00-2:00- Community BBQ at ATB Financial on Mainstreet, with proceeds going to the Alberta Children's Hospital.
5:00 pm onwards: Stark Trek Movie Marathon at the Vulcan Lodge Hall with donation proceeds going to the Vulcan Rec Board's Arts and Culture programming.
Specific Event details are available on Vulcan Tourism's website as well as a map of downtown Vulcan indicating where things will be happening. Click here for more information.
Also, for more background information on Nimoy's acting career and details on his appearance at the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo, check out today's article in the Calgary Herald.
